Safety
There is a growing impetus to tackle healthcare acquired infections, which as well as potentially being life threatening, they cost the NHS around £1 billion per year. What role does design play? What is the evidence? What potential areas for action are there to improve infection control?

Sustainable Development
Health and well being are central to sustainability and an understanding of what is meant by sustainable communities is emerging. Sustainable development brings together social, economic and environmental factors. How can we engage more fully with sustainable development? How can we make green, clean and healthy environments?

Lean Design
How can design support the modernisation of services to improve flows and enhance the patient experience? What impact do care networks and patient pathways have on the location and shape of the built environment? How can design support more productive processes? How can design keep pace with clinical change?
